Mavicure Hills - The Land of Waters
Community Tourism
A tour of the Inírida river, the sacred place of the Puinaves and Curripacos natives living in the community of El Remanso in the Orinoquía jungle. Discovering the Mavicure hills – an authentic jungle and nature experience admiring the ancient rocks of the Guiana Highlands.
The Guania region is called “land of many waters”. Indigenous communities have developed their culture in contact with the jungle for centuries. Their close relationship with the environment has allowed them to live wisely, giving birth to customs and traditions linked to nature. Its culture is the basis of conservation. The tourism makes it possible to discover this paradise and must strengthen the values of the communities.
The communities provide accommodation, guidance, food and transportation services. The incomes of the above mentioned benefit the entire community. This associative work creates new projects in order to develop new activities and improve the quality of the services through training and investment in infrastructure.
Mavicure Hills – those are three enormous 250 meter-high rocks called Mavicure, Mono and Pajarito that work as an impressive lookout over the Guanía jungle.
This is one of our flagship conservation destinations filled with biodiversity and the ancestral culture of its native inhabitants. Through contemplation we guide our travelers to the land of waters where we integrate with the Puinave communities. While staying in their homes we allow the traveller to discover the cultural diversity of our country and support local projects and efforts of the integration into the tourism value chain. The traveller will also learn about the wide biodiversity of this region, appreciating and valuing natural resources and looking for the different species that inhabit there.
