El Tuparro is an extensive green savannah surrounded by large rivers with powerful torrents and golden beaches, small spots of crystalline waters, gallery forests, Moriche Palm swamps and mangrove. Furthermore it characterizes by huge rock formations in shape of rounded hills. The rapids of Atures and Maipures, according to the legend, were made by a desperate father who wanted to recover their children from a curse. 

On this excursion we will get to know the Colombian Orinoquia in the Vichada department. In 1970 it was declared a fauna territory with an area of 250.000 hectares. Afterwards in 1980 the reserve was expanded and named as a National Natural Park with a total of 548.000 hectares. It was declared the eighth wonder by Humboldt. Today it is a national monument, a world heritage site and a biosphere reserve. This is a true exploration of wild lands – one of the most important nature destinations in Colombia.
